As upset as we all are that summer is over, autumn in Victoria is easily as good! Here are some fun ideas going on across the Island.
Events:
Onegin
When: Now until November 12 2017 (ticket availability will vary)
Where: Belfry Theatre
Based on the poem by Pushkin and the opera by Tchaikovsky, Director Amiel Gladstone recreates the incredible Russian classic. The show will make you laugh and feel like the hopeless romantic we all are deep down.
“A lush, passionate and acclaimed new musical about trying not to fall in love. When Onegin, a dashing but jaded aristocrat from St. Petersburg, inherits his uncle’s estate in the country, his arrival sets hearts afire and stirs the embers of jealousy. Even the reclusive young Tatyana falls hopelessly under the spell of the aloof Onegin, and professes her love for him. Will playing with lonely Russian hearts reap heartbreak or romance?”

Festival of Trees
When: November 15, 2017
Where: The Bay Centre
Start the festive season early and give back to the community at the annual Festival of Trees! The event is hosting their 26th event this November and has become, without a doubt, the “unofficial” kick-off to the holiday season! Hosted exclusively at The Bay Centre, folks are asked to vote for their favourite tree, and support kids from our community. All proceeds go to the Excellence in Child Health Fund and the event is by donation. Learn more about how you can help support the community and the Festival of Trees!
Island Ideas:
Whale Watching
Sign up for a whale watching tour and experience something surreal! Many salmon species return to our waters in October, which translates to more whales off the Island. If nothing else, soak up the last bit of sunshine and enjoy the ocean air.
Go on a Craft Brewery Tour
These days, Victoria is known as much for their craft beer as it is for anything else. In the downtown core alone, you can’t go far without running into one. From Philips to Driftwood, you can spend an afternoon going from brewery to brewery.
Royal BC Museum
The Royal BC Museum is chock full of amazing exhibits. Current exhibitions include First Nations, Natural History, Modern History and more. See their site for more details.
Butchart Gardens
This Japanese garden has become one of British Columbia’s most beautiful floral displays. Walk through and marvel at the autumn colours as they change.
Galloping Goose Regional Trail
From Victoria to Sooke, this 55 km trail is free from cars and perfect for those on foot or bike.
Rain or shine, sleet or now: we encourage you to get out and have some fun! Victoria is one of the most livable places in the whole world, and it’s because of activities like these that that’s the case. Find more great content on the Pemberton Holmes blog.
